What a great idea--for monks and nuns and holy men on mountaintops, you say. Well, maybe when we retire we can consider walking the gentle path. But what does the gentle path have to do with our lives right now? We're trying to make a living, keep the grass mowed, the boss happy, the dog walked, the kids fed, the house painted, and our blood pressure down. In our high-stress, success-oriented lives, who has time for gentle paths? Well, maybe someday...

What is this "gentle path" anyway? It is a path with acceptance of change which brings with it new opportunities for growth and fulfillment; it is a path of integration of the events and circumstances of our lives acknowledging their role as shaper and molder of who we are today; it is a path of allowing people, including ourselves, to be as they are; it is a path of gratitude for the gift of life, for the gift to life that we are. It is a path of sunsets and seashores, of picnics and planting, of stars and smiles, of challenges and successes.

The gentle path is one we can walk right now--the one we are now walking, but with fresh eyes and new awareness and the embracing of it all... Enjoy this issue of The Avatar Journal...
