Celebrity Profile
of Bettine Clemen-Longley

Meet Bettine Clemen-Longley, one of the world's premier flautists and Avatar Wizard. If you are one of the thousands who have enjoyed Bettine's stunning audio-visual performances in the great concert halls and stages of Europe, Asia, and the United States, you might be interested in some of her more private and intimate performances. In her time out between concerts, Bettine plays music for animals.

"Animals feel me through the music," says the lovely Bettine. "They seem to enjoy it and sometimes even join in, and we play a concert together. I've even had animals kiss me in appreciation."

Of course, some audiences are tougher than others. Once after playing for two camels at the Great Wall of China, one of them bit her. Another time in Singapore, an envious orangutan stole her flute and tried to play it himself.

On her most recent world tour, she visited an elephant orphanage in Sri Lanka and spent a hot, but thoroughly enjoyable afternoon serenading 70 to 80 orphaned elephants, including one baby elephant recovering from an amputation as a result of a land mine. After some Vivaldi, Mozart, and a few of her own compositions, the elephants' spirits were raised enough that they began to trumpet back. "I felt totally connected with them."

Bettine delivers The Avatar Course around the world in English, German and Portuguese.
